Coach Frankie
Frankie Grella grew up in Glen Cove, NY where soccer is not only a sport, but a way of life. He began his career at a very young age with Long Island Junior Soccer League playing for the Glen Cove Red Devils, leading his team to win the Waldbaums Cup for his division. In addition to playing league soccer, he was the Captain of the Glen Cove High School Men's Varsity Soccer Team, as well as a student athlete for Stony Brook University, a Division 1 soccer program. From there he continued to advance his soccer career by attending professional soccer sessions with Leeds United (Premier League), New York Redbulls (MLS) and Columbus Crew (MLS) through his brother Mike Grella, retired professional soccer player and current CBS sports Serie A commentator.
Frankie has been a trainer with Long Island United for over 7 years and has trained with many different clubs including Glen Head, South Huntington, HBC, VOB, Elwood and Commack for various ages, ranging from U8 to U18 both male and female athletes. He utilizes powerful instructional techniques to help athletes maximize their performance levels and reach career highs. Frankie's passion for the game and experience coaching has gained him a proven track record of guiding athletes to achieve both personal and team achievements.
